first_imgThe post Tourism Marketing Heads agree on way forward for the Pacific appeared first on Discover the South Pacific.Source: Blog For further information, please contact:  Alisi LutuMarketing Manager – SPTOT: +679 3304177E: alutu@spto.org Regional Marketing Managers and Executives from 17 Pacific Island countries gathered in Apia, Samoa in the beginning of the week for the South Pacific Tourism Organisation (SPTO) Regional Marketing meeting 2018, preceding the SPTO Board and Council of Tourism Ministers Meeting at the end of the week.Organised by SPTO and now in its 6th year, the objective is for SPTO to collaboratively strategize promotional opportunities with Marketing Managers of its member countries and agree on the way forward for the region by reviewing the SPTO Regional Marketing Plan 2019.“The SPTO Marketing Plan 2019 we’ve reviewed with the Pacific Tourism Marketing Managers emphasizes three key Marketing priorities in the area of Business to Business (B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C) specifically focusing digital transformation and Capacity building initiatives to enhance SPTO’s promotional reach and support of its member countries’ priority marketing needs,” said Chris Cocker, CEO, SPTO. The Regional Marketing meeting this year also saw presentations by key guest speakers from Trip Advisor, School of Hospitality & Tourism – Auckland University of Technology (AUT), the South Pacific Sailing Network (SPSN) and Miles Partnership presenting on opportunities and ways to enhance SPTO and its member countries’ in maximizing its Marketing strategies and objectives.Items on the agenda included an overview of SPTO’s Marketing activities, a recap on positives and challenges of SPTO’s 2018 Marketing activities, SPTO’s proposed 2019 Marketing Plan, Overview of the 2018 Trip Advisor South Pacific Islands Market data and Insights, a presentation on experiences of sexual harassment by customers in the Cook Islands hospitality industry by Lisa Sadaraka of AUT University, a coordinated and regional promotion of South Pacific sailing by the South Pacific Sailing Network (SPSN), and Google’s DMO Partnership Programme by Miles Partnership.The SPTO Regional Marketing Plan 2019 was approved by the Marketing Managers, before it was tabled and endorsed by the SPTO Board the following day.The Regional Marketing Managers meeting was held at the Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows in Apia on Tuesday, 2nd of October 2018.center_img Su’a Hesed IeremiaMedia Officer – STAT: +685 724-7865E: hesed@samoa.travellast_img
