Redmi 7 set to launch today: Specs, expected price, how to watch livestream

The phone will be launching in China. Alongside the Redmi 7 the company will also launch Redmi Note 7 Pro in its home market. The Redmi Note 7 Pro made its global debut in India last month. So far a lot has been talked about the Redmi 7. Not just rumours but even the company executives have revealed some of the key details about the Redmi 7. The Redmi 7 will succeed the Redmi 6 and will be a much-upgraded version of the predecessor. The Redmi 7 launch event is scheduled to happen in Beijing, China at 2pm CST (11:30am IST). You can watch the livestream of the event on the dedicated page for the Redmi 7.Just a few hours ahead of the launch the Redmi 7 is now spotted on Geekbench. The benchmarking site reveals some of the key details of the Redmi 7. It suggests that the Redmi 7 will come packed with 4GB RAM, Qualcomm Snapdragon ‘msm8953’ chipset and Android 9 Pie based on MIUI 10. The smartphone was previously spotted on TENAA benchmarking site which revealed the complete specs sheet of the Redmi 7.According to TENAA listing, the Redmi 7 will come with a 6.26-inch LCD HD+ display with screen resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. On the hardware front the Redmi 7 will be powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. The TENAA listing had revealed that the Redmi 7 will come in three variants — 2GB RAM/16GB storage, 3GB RAM/32GB storage, and 6GB RAM/64GB storage.advertisementOn the camera front, the Redmi 7 is said to sport two cameras on the rear panel and single on the front which will equip inside the Dot drop notch. The overall design of the Redmi 7 will be much similar to the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. The main back camera of the Redmi 7 will be a 12-megapixel sensor, as of now there’s no information regarding the secondary rear camera. The back cameras will come packed with lots of AI and there will be a LED flash too. On the front, the TENAA listing suggests that the Redmi 7 will include an 8-megapixel camera for clicking selfies. The Redmi 7 will include a big 4000mAh battery similar to the Redmi Note 7 series of phones.Xiaomi CEO revealed the expected price of the Redmi 7 back in January this year via a Weibo post. Jun said that the Redmi 7 will be priced between 700 Yuan and 8000 yuan which roughly translate to Rs 7,000 and Rs 8,000. This price may be for the base 2GB RAM +16GB storage model. So, will the Redmi 7 come to India? Possibly yes.
